Kudos to editorial

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

The Editorial is perceived as the heart and the soul of a magazine or a newspaper. And TSI has its heart and soul well placed. Issue after issue this magazine tries to explore new meanings to a subject. The editorial( TSI, Nov 24-30) is once again a bold statement from the Editor-in-Chief Arindam Chaudhuri, praising a publication which can be considered as a rival. By doing so, he has spoken of Planman Media's commitment and sincerity towards the profession of journalism. Times of India is not just a group, rather it is an institution in itself and it commands tremendous respect from its readers. And its position is not merely a chance, but is the result of dedicated efforts of his team. TOI deserves it and all the best to TSI to keep stimulating its readers!

Advantage Jamaat-E-Alliance

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

Jamaat-E-Islami succour for weakening Left Front

After working for decades towards building a society in India based in Islam, Jamaat-E-Islami recently announced its intentions to float its own political party. The announcement made by Mustaq Farooq, the all India general secretary of this semi-political and religious organisation, has undoubtedly created quite a stir among the political circles in Kerala. The new outfit’s general approach towards politics will be to side with the Left parties whenever BJP has a winning chance and support the Congress-led UPA wherever the Left Democratic Front (LDF) does not have any effective influence.

Jamaat’s Kerala leaders say the new outfit will be launched only after the Lok Sabha elections; media speculations meanwhile peg the launch date as January 2009. The decision is likely to be taken during a conference in Kochi to be held soon as a part of the organisation’s national Amir’s all India odyssey. Parties in Kerala are looking at this proposal from different angles. The news has certainly delighted LDF who had received Jamaat’s support in the last assembly elections. The Front has already busied itself in building up an alternative Muslim vote bank to counterbalance Muslim League, a constituent of Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF).

In this regard, the only catch, so far, is People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by Abdul Nasser al Madani, who was acquitted in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast case, aimed at eliminating BJP leader LK Advani. Right-wing National Development Front (NDF), known for its extremist Islamic views, attained influence and strength during the nine year-long incarceration of Madani, causing CPM and PDP grave worries. Till date, it gives PDP sleepless nights.

The amazing adrenalin race

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

In 1975, “Death Race 2000” conjectured a world of cons engaged in a brutal race where they had to kill the others on the way to victory (well, the title is proof clear enough of the premise) in the year 2000. The reprise in 2008, starring Jason Statham. is pretty much the same idea, only the year is 2012 and economic disaster has the post industrial world festering with criminals so numerous that private corporations are running prisons. One such, The Terminal Island Prison, has a sadistic warden, Hennessey (played with a lot of bite by Joan Allen) who catches the newest convict Jensen Ames (Jason Statham; leaner and hungry for more action) and forces him to fill in the vacancy of Frankenstein, a driver killed in the last race. Begrudgingly, Statham takes the wheel in this mad race but once he does, he kicks some machine gun fitted car tail for sure! Statham is a born natural in roles behind the wheel (see him in “The Italian Job” and the “Transporter” series and you’ll know). It is a solid action movie that neither pretends nor desires to be anything else.

The unabashed bloodshed, the coolest cars you can imagine, witty repartees, guns and explosions, and of course hot babes – it’s a male audience’s fantasy come true. “Death Race” is a good watch for anyone who’s ever had road rage. At least you can fantasise about blowing every commuter away who dares cross your path. Complain, if you have to, about the lack of a storyline and acting, but if you were looking for those, what were you doing watching this movie in the first place?

Terror’s ugly face

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

The article ‘School for terror’ (TSI, Nov 17-23) has comprehensively analysed the terror network exhibiting a Hindu face, perhaps for the first time in the Indian history. Also, it was revealed that terrorism in India is a big business and candidates are systematically recruited and trained to carry out the nefarious deeds planned by men and women who have a very credible face in our society. The alleged involvement in the Malegaon blasts of a Lt. Colonel in the army, purohit and saintly figures like Sadhvi Pragya and Mahant Dayanand Pandey ripped the façade of the saffron brigade.

The intrepid tiger- wallah

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

Fateh Singh Rathore, First Field Director of Ranthambore

Far away from the city noise, amidst chirping cuckoos and banyan trees is where Fateh Singh Rathod feels at home. A resident of Ranthambore and its custodian too, his conviction to protect the tigers of Ranthambore remains strong long after retiring as a forest officer.

“I have spent my entire life in Ranthambore and it breaks my heart to see it dying. I did all I could to save the tigers and the wildlife when I had the authority and power, and now I’m doing all that I can as the son of this land”, said Fateh Singh whose NGO, Tiger Watch, has been instrumental in nabbing the poachers from the Mogia tribe who were involved in killing and smuggling tiger skin. “Poachers were responsible for the diminishing population of tigers in Ranthambore and it was important to catch them. Today, there are hardly any poaching cases, leading to a decent tiger population”, he said. For the family and children of the Mogias, who essentially live in the dense forest and hunt tigers for a living, Fateh Singh has started a school and a vocational training center for women to provide them with an alternate source of livelihood.

But this custodian is also caught in various controversies. “Money making is now Fateh Singh ji’s focus. The school is just an eyewash. There have been just 20 Mogia kids for the past many years in the school, all to show that he has done something. No efforts have been made to get more kids and educate them. He runs a luxury hotel, Khemvilas, which is his cash churner. That's his focus. Not the Mogias or the tigers,” alleged a group of locals. “I was a poacher but I quit after police caught me. I still have no source of income. An employee in Tiger Watch had given me a camel cart but when he left the organisation, the camel was taken away by Fateh Singh ji. My kids were also not admitted in his school. Now, I'm left with no means to earn my livelihood", sobbed a Mogia.

Well, it is true that popularity has its share of pricks and the fact can't be denied that, though controversial , Fateh singh is the custodian of this tiger city.

Every day is a battle for survival, and these guys take it on and they win.

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

In India, there have been legends, some fairly credible, about wolves, both adopting as well as killing children. How likely in your opinion is either possibility?

Unfortunately, both possibilities are very likely. The adoption side of things I know very well because I experienced it first hand when this pack took me in as family. When I was running with them in the wild, I’ve seen dominant female wolves instruct the hunters to take down calves still suckling from their lactating mothers. The only thing that the adults eat is the stomach content of these animals and basically, the stomach content is milk. And it takes the adult wolves back to the time when they were young and used to drink milk. The behaviour of the pack at that time, over the next two weeks just changes incredibly. The tension drops, there’s a lot of play, there’s a lot of social bonding, and usually at that time, because of the milk going into their body; at such times they will pretty much adopt anything into their pack. A female wolf who’s lost her own young and who’s been feeding on the semi-digested milk, and if a young child is found in the wilderness at that time, there is every possibility that the child will be brought up with the wolves and would be accepted in the pack. The only problem such a child will have is to adapt to the harshness of the environment, and that’s the reason why we don’t often hear such stories unless it’s a remarkable child who can cope with the rigours of being amongst the wolves. The downside to this is that unfortunately, the more contact wolves have with people, and the lack of understanding they have about our world, means that there are inevitably going to be accidents, with children coming into contact with any wild animal.

If there is a child reading this in India, and he loves wolves and believes he wants to live with the wolves, just as you do, how should he train himself?

My native American brothers, my family, they always say that you sign the unwritten contract to work with the animals at an early age.

Something happens to you in early childhood, whether good or bad, around a creature, and it’s this way that nature kind of gives you the incentives to work with these animals. And I think the child in question would have to have the desire to work with the creature to try to understand it. And all I can say to every child reading this is that if you want to work with wolves, you’re going to be working with an animal that’s never given up in its life. Every day is a battle for survival, and these guys take it on and they win. So anybody who wants to work with them has to be prepared to do the same thing. And if you have that kind of philosophy, that train of mind and you’re physically fit to cope with the rigours and the harshness of their world, then you’ve got every chance of succeeding and working with these creatures. And the animal world badly needs young people coming through to help us help them.

Guardian Angels

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

Kaziranga’s animals thrive, protected by guardians who battle life, destiny, animal attacks, and all so often, old age.

It’s November when across Assam, people dance the Raas, Krishna’s leela with his gopis. Within the forests of Kaziranga, there is no such celebration. Here, time stands almost still, as the rhino walks past leisurely into the waiting darkness, bathing in the moonlight.

In the beauty of it all, minutes earlier, the rhino, all three tonnes of it, had turned, staring at us kind of point blank. “See? That’s what it does before charging. And that is why you don’t turn off the engine…,” says Gogoi, the forest guard accompanying us on the ride through the sanctuary. As one drives back into the safety of the forest office, one is suddenly aware of the “other Kaziranga,” the real heroes who keep the sanctuary alive, well and thriving. Amol Das, wireless operator; had his leg chewed up by a rhino in the early 1990s. He has been waiting for a transfer for 20 years. His colleague Dineshwar Saikia who fell through a rotten blank in his camp out in the middle of the river during the floods is now disabled and can barely stand, leave aside rush to someone in case of a crisis. Down the road, in another camp a year to go for his retirement, Nilambor Bora won’t pose for a picture. “I am a blind man,” he says. Some years ago, Bora lost his left eye to an ailment. And yet is still there, gun in hand, guarding animals at the world heritage site. And just why is this happening? As many tell us, the old government apathy. Yet there is also the other side to it. “Our guards are people who known even the current of the Brahmaputra so well that they can tell you where poachers could come from on a given night,” says district forest officer D D Gogoi. “And this is a place where we cannot use a paramilitary force, or the army.” Why? “Because they would be tempted to shoot. There are instances when our guards have, even when trying to save a colleague, shot in a way that the animal isn’t harmed,” he says.

Yet there is so much that can be done. Kaziranga, says Amol Das, still does not have a designated doctor or a hospital, or the means to rush an injured person to hospital. And Kaziranga, as of now, still has half the number of guards it needs. Many of them are over 50 years old. The Home Guards who were posted there after the spate of poaching incidents are posted for six-month tenures, just not enough to become a real guard. How real? If you want to get a grazing rhino to pose, get a guard to make it do so. Shutting one nostril with a finger he does a wild, nasal “et et et…” and the rhino looks up. “That’s the sound of their calves,” the guard will tell you. And he can sniff out animals. A python smells like the “last bit of smoke from a cigarette that has just been butted out.” That real. Which is why Kaziranga’s rhinos have grown from five to 2,000, the park has the world’s largest population of Asiatic buffaloes and has the highest ecological density of tigers (86 in a space of 800 sq km). As DFO Gogoi says: “Our guards are great.” Take a bow guards of Kaziranga.

Everybody I know is gone. I’m just waiting for the end. Soon, I’ll be gone too…

IIPM Ranked No1 B-School in India

But when I ask him of his legacy, he seems unsure. “Democracy will kill the tiger. There are just too many of us and soon these forest too will have to go. What can you do?”, he says. I’m saddened to hear him say that. I was hoping that he, more than anyone else would hold out defiant hope. After all, isn’t he the most decorated conservationist in the world, having won awards and appreciation from all quarters and corners and isn’t he the man who poachers still fear? And isn’t he the man who has repeatedly achieved the impossible, whether it be protecting a forgotten landscape from eternal destruction or be it successfully returning hand reared leopards and tigers back to the wild. “What can I do? I’m an old man now. Everybody I know is gone. I’m just waiting for the end. Soon, I’ll be gone too… and so would the forests.” I must’ve looked crestfallen, and I was. Though physically much taller, I felt dwarfed by the majesty and aura of the man. I must’ve seemed like a sad little boy who’s had his last shred of hope wrenched away from his hopeful heart. The affectionate old man seemed to take pity on the little boy sitting across him and his eyes softened… “I haven’t given up yet. I might be old but I’m not going to quit. I’m still working hard… I can’t give up the fight.” There’s fire burning in that belly yet… the old tiger roars still…

Conservationist extraordinaire Billy Arjan Singh seemed a lonely warrior. The man who had shared shikar yarns as a boy with Jim Corbett now looked back on his time spent in these forests he loves so dearly with a fondness that overwhelmed me. The proud figure, unbending, unyielding, brave of heart and stout of limb, forever chasing redemption, had shades of Victor Hugo’s unforgettable hero – Jean Valjean. It was lunch time and Billy’s man Friday, Shriram, was helping him away… As he got up to leave, he said “if you want to save the tiger, you have to give him a vote.” And then he said, “you want to know what my obituary would be?” I didn’t. There’s time yet sir, I said. “I’ll tell you… The lines are Kipling’s (Tiger--Tiger) but they speak of my soul…” He paused for a while and the lines came back, first in a trickle and then in waves… child-like joy creased his face as his voice grew strident - What of the hunting, hunter bold,

Brother the watch was long and cold.

whose leaders are worried about the rising tide of malignancy in the tribal belt of Pakistan.

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

More so because the use of force during the last eight years has not borne any fruit; rather, it has further complicated the situation," he said. Islamic militants have played havoc in Pakistan despite the fact that the vast majority has rejected religious extremism during the last elections. Tauseef Ahmed Khan, an associate professor at Karachi's Urdu University and a leading columnist, said religious extremism is not acceptable to the vast majority of American population and Democrats have no option but to pursue the policy of hot pursuit if interference in Afghanistan continues from Pakistan's tribal areas. "President Pervez Musharraf was accused by the US of doublecrossing and that impression has to be erased if Pakistan wants to avoid a nasty situation," he added.

But eminent defence analyst Dr Hasan-Askari Rizvi rejects the notion that the US will invade Pakistan. "There is no question of invading Pakistan. The US is concerned about the situation in the tribal areas, as if Pakistan can't assert its authority in these areas. The US is likely to continue with missile and drone attacks but will not launch a formal invasion of the tribal areas," he told TSI.

Islamic militancy in Pakistan is not only posing a grave threat to the country but is also hampering the process of dialogue between Pakistan and India, because New Delhi often accuses Pakistan if there are bomb blasts in Indian cities or a surge in freedom movement in Indian-administrated Kashmir.

The monster of religious extremism is equally affecting India, whose leaders are worried about the rising tide of malignancy in the tribal belt of Pakistan. "Some of the Indian groups are now imitating Pakistan-based groups to pursue their partisan agenda in the Indian context. Secondly, Pakistan's current efforts to contain militancy also make these groups that were operating in Indian-administrated Kashmir irrelevant and dysfunctional.," said Dr Rizvi

The situation is tricky because on the one hand, Obama is going tough on Pakistan; on the other, regional powers, including India and Iran, are neither ready to buy the idea that Pakistan is doing its best to contain Islamic militancy, nor do they feel comfortable by the growing presence of American forces in the region.

Time to get real about virtual worlds

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

Living in virtual worlds can be exciting and challenging. Anu Gulmohar assumes a spunky avatar and goes out to meet other avatars in virtual alleys, beaches and valleys to understand the ways of these worlds…

Living parallel lives in virtual worlds was initially all about fun and games. In real life, where one has to be an adult and mistakes are seldom tolerated, virtual worlds are like playgrounds where one can try new games – from exchanging vows with your virtual soulmate to adopting children – and not be afraid of real life consequences. But as the possibilities of living large have expanded, and people have gotten completely caught up with their second lives, the line between the real and virtual seems to be diminishing. In May, a 43-year-old Japanese woman was divorced by her online husband, and the lady took it so hard that she hacked into his account and deleted him from the story line. While she had no intentions of physically harming him in real life, her enraged ex called on the cops, and now Japanese Police have divulged that she could find herself behind bars for up to five years, or be fined upto $5,000, according to the time and money that her online spouse had spent on his avatar. The days of simply flirting in chat rooms are gone, and what people from around the world are getting addicted to, is living full-blown, real virtual lives.

Gul Sorbet is my online avatar on Second Life (SL). I have to confess, Gul is a tad slimmer than me, but I haven’t intentionally cheated on any other count! A lot of people are far more original in creating their avatars; for instance the very first person I got chatting to was Ambassador Atlas, who told me that he’s from Chicago, but in SL he poses to be from UK, and fools everyone with a perfect Brit accent! The next person I chatted up (let’s call him Mat) told me how SL is a place to be yourself, and that he has chosen to be himself with lesser inhibitions.

Second Life has its own currency – Linden dollars – which can be exchanged for real world currency (roughly 260 L make 1 US$), and people can find employment and run businesses in this world. One can be a journalist and cover events pertaining to the second world, or become a receptionist, or an office administrator. One of the easiest ways to make money on SL, Mat told me, is by becoming a dancer in a nightclub or by becoming an escort. He then teleported (if only one could escape traffic so in real life too!) me to a store which had plenty of free clothes, shoes, hair, eyes… Before leaving, Mat advised that if I’d like to try becoming an escort then I should pick up – hold your breath – "a vagina" for my avatar! “It is always easier to drop inhibitions in a ‘pretend’ world – this is precisely one of its key functions. So people use spaces such as Second Life to be able to achieve what they cannot outside virtual worlds. This experience can feed into the real world and help individuals to change (for the better or for the worse),” says Sandra Jovchelovitch, Head of the Institute of Social Psychology, London School of Economics.

Porter Tsenge and his friends are the soldiers' truest friends

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

Smiling Buddhas

At a crevice, we stopped and were being lined up for the crossing. But Tsenge and his friends had already crossed it and were sitting under a lazy sun, amusedly watching us, smiled benignly, chatting between themselves. They cross small crevices like hares. Our team took nine hours to cover just eight kilometres on the first day. The trek had started after prayers at 8:30 am and we reached the first camp at five in the evening, with no strength left even to drink water or have food. But Tsenge was still brimming with his smile as he handed over Mukunda's belongings to him.

Tsenge belongs to Khardung village, just below the worlds highest motorable pass, Khardung La (18,380) ft. Most of the porters belong to Laddakh. The army doctors explained that being locals, they are any time stronger than anyone coming from the plains, no matter how well the plainspersons are trained. One senior doctor said: “When extreme conditions in Siachen do not allow a person to carry more than eight kilograms, the porters carry 20 kgs with ease because their body is naturally acclimatised."

Sonam was on his maiden trip to the glacier. The other porters said that while Sonam is just 18, Tsenge – who too had started his trips to glacier at 18 – is today those many years older than Sonam. When we asked Sonam if he was frightened, he appeared a bit disturbed. He said, “The glacier doesn’t hurt anyone. So why should I be scared?” Well, who’d say he is not a veteran, for when we reached a small but deep crevice, Sonam simply jumped across and started helping the others too. And all the while he and others sang Laddakhi or Nepali songs.

The porters earn Rs 300 per day if they work at the base camp and Rs 450 per day once they climb the glacier. “It is these porters because of whom death toll on the glacier has come down,” a senior official confided. From collecting ice to be melted to 'make' water for drinking or ablution, to carrying heavy loads, cooking and serving meals, the porters make life livable for the soldiers, which leaves them free to ward off the enemy.

Sonam is the eldest son in his family, and plans to educate his younger brother in a good school in Leh. Tsenge wishes his son to join the army and serve the nation. And Utup, one of the porters, says, “If Pakistan attacks us again, I will not hesitate to fight, and I'll fight for free. And then he smiles too, the youngest and the oldest Smiling Buddhas up at 15,000 feet!

Their maladies merit a carefully thought out, long term and 'foolproof' solution, carefully suggests Ratan Lal Bhagat

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

The banks had already stopped giving dollar loans to them a month ago, which has forced them to buy dollars from the market at a higher rate.

On the outset, these players require cash inflow of around $1 billion a week to meet the requirements of oil and oil products of the country. India imports nearly 70 per cent of its oil requirements. With commercial banks abruptly deciding to withdraw any further financial support in the wake of the liquidity crunch, OMCs are in a tight spot. IOC, BPCL and HPCL have borrowed over Rs one trillion from both foreign and domestic banks in the current year till September. The banks had already stopped giving dollar loans to them a month ago, which has forced them to buy dollars from the market at a higher rate. And with this financial cushion gone, the OMCs are being further pushed down the barrel. Moreover, the perils of the oil companies' credit crunch only worsened manifold as the overnight borrowing (or "call") rates touted as the other funding route, climbed to 16 per cent in the first week of October. “This has resulted in global sentiments weighing down the monthly performance of the sector; the sector went down 5 per cent M-o-M, as compared to CNX 500, which dipped 12 per cent, states Mansingka.

All does not seem to be lost though. Firstly, the global drop in crude prices has surely raised hope of a possible cut in domestic retail selling prices of auto and cooking fuels, thus bringing a sense of relief for the common man. Secondly, the slide in the prices would also bring down the fiscal deficit as subsidies — estimated to be around Rs 2.6 trillion in July, are now placed lower at Rs 1.5 trillion; thus helping the sluggish economy. Finally, the under recoveries and realisations are expected to come down and the refining costs have also fallen due to the fall in global prices; an aspect to cherish for the oil producers and distributors.

One cannot however discount or overlook the dreadful trap that the OMCs have fallen into, thanks to this downturn. The Union Budget has no provision for the oil downstream companies to address either product prices or the excise duties of these companies; which will force these players continue to suffer under recoveries from petroleum related products. “A pro-active action by the government and the other related authorities is the need of the hour, to save these companies from phasing out completely,” emphasises Wadhwa, rightly echoing the voice of these oil churners. The Parliament has approved oil bonds worth Rs.659.42 billion as a bailout package to help reduce the financial burden, but this not more than a stop gap arrangement. The government has to be careful while cutting oil prices, considering the losses already faced by OMCs.

“The OMCs, on their part, could improve their profitability by cost cutting measures. But again, unless the key issue of subsidies is addressed; such cost cutting measures only come across as instances of delaying the inevitable.

The matter calls for a thorough analysis of the situation to come up with a permanent solution.

If the government suddenly has to un-'bond' itself, one wonders what can happen. Sans liquidity and sans the 'gas'; OMCs would surely capitwulate. And it takes no rocket science to gauge what that means for India.

‘We are promoting a second line of leadership’

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

Resentment in the BJP is more than in Congress. It will help the latter to form government in Madhya Pradesh, Suresh Pachauri, Madhya Pradesh Pradesh Congress president, tells TSI’s Pramod Kumar. He also adds that the Congress has never projected a chief minister in advance and only state legislators would decide.

For the first time, you are heading the state Congress. How optimistic you are about success?

It is true that I am heading the state organization for the first time. When a party is going for polls, it is the collective responsibility of every leader. As for as the success, I am sure that this time Congress is going to form a government on its own.

But if the party looses, the moral responsibility lies on the PCC president.

We are contesting this election to win.

What are the main issues in the elections?

The success of the Central government will be the main plank, for example the nuke deal along with fulfillment of the Common Minimum Programme, the Right to Information, National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) and achievements of the Central government.

There is a lot of resentment in distribution of tickets?

What ever recommendations were made by the state observers, the Central Election Committee had decided on well laid down norms. We have tried the best possible balance between rural and urban constituencies. The real hue and cry is in BJP not in Congress. There are more rebels candidates in BJP which will benefit us.

But there is resentment in Congress as well.

We have honoured those who sat in opposition and raised the concern of ordinary people of the state. Some of them have been denied tickets, so the anguish is natural. But I am confident that everybody will unite for a purpose to defeat communal forces in the state.

What about the tribals when a leader like Kantilal Bhuria has left the Congress?

If you see the list of candidates, ample reservation has been given to them according to the population and region. I don’t want to comment on Bhuriaji.

A lot of old faces have been denied tickets this time? Will they sabotage elections which is being fought by new candidates?

I don’t think that there will be any challenge to established leaders. Rahul Gandhi has already emphasized on promoting a second line of leadership so that new faces could be inducted. Senior leader Digvijay Singh has said that Kamal Nath is the best candidate for being the Chief Minister.

The Congress party has never projected a Chief Minister before the elections. There is convention is the Congress that the leader is always elected by legislators. The same convention will be repeated after the results are over.

Who will be the star campaigner?

The election committee will finalise the names. As far the choice is concerned, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will the main campaigners in the elections as every candidate is asking for their programme in their constituencies.

Apart from them, senior ministers and state leaders like Arjun Singh, Kamal Nath, Jyotiradiya Scindia and Digvijay Singh will campaign according to their schedule.

Do you think anti-incumbency will benefit the Congress?

Definitely, anti-incumbency is a factor. The BJP government has failed to perform. The communal face of BJP has came out in the open. In addition, Uma Bharti will dent BJP votes.

What about BSP factor?

Well, to be honest, the BSP has no role to play outside Uttar Pradesh.
